Based on Umberto Ecos' novel, in 1327 in a Benedictine abbey ensue 7 deaths in 7 days. An intellectual monk tries to discover the guilty and the cause. It won the BAFTA award for the Best Actor and Best Make Up, the David di Donatello for: Best Producer, Best Cinematogrphy, Best PRoduction Design, Best Costume Design and a David to the Director, the Silver Ribbon for: Best Cinematography, Best Costume Design, Best Production Design.
