The film was shot mainly in the largest wilderness area in Europe: Val Grande, in the province of Verbania.

This area of 152 square kilometers is without signs of life. There are no roads, houses, shops, light poles or signs of civilization. Some areas of the Val Grande are still unexplored to man.

A part of the film was then shot at the Benedictine monastery of Marmora where Father Sergio lived for over 40 years of his life and where his Library is still located today.

Production ... the largest collection in shares

The film was produced in part by crowdfunding in popular shareholding on the PRODUCTION FROM THE BOTTOM platform.

Over 500 subscribers financed the film with 50 euros. More than 80,000 euros have been collected making LA TERRA BUONA the film with the largest collection in shares ever made in Italy.

The film has also been made possible thanks to the support of Film Commission Torino Piemonte, FIP (Film Investimenti Piemonte), the Val Grande National Park and in particular thanks to the Associazione Alpe Capraga.

Since the Val Grande is a difficult place to reach from a logistical point of view, the inhabitants of Capraga, the last village reached by car, have sold their houses for the 2 months of shooting the film.

Synopsis

Three true stories. Which in reality have never met. But that meet in this film. One last person still lives in this pristine nature. Father Sergio, a Benedictine monk of over 80 years, spent most of his life in an old hut that he himself rebuilt. With the monk also lives Gianmaria, a small and squat good-looking man, who for several years has been assisting Father Sergio in all his needs. Back from the nearest village for provisions, a 4-hour walk through the mountains, Gianmaria presents itself with two people never seen before. They are two desperate and absolutely worried guys. They are exhausted by fatigue for the long journey and strangely they are not there to meet the old monk. Instead, they are looking for another person who, in secret, has been a guest of Father Sergio for over a month, to whom the two newcomers present a request that he can not wait. Of life or death. Thus, their arrival will disrupt and endanger the peace and serenity of one of the last corners of Paradise on Earth.
