Today begins the 67th edition of the Berlinale, the Berlin International Film Festival. One of the most important film festival, to be held in the German capital on February 9 to 19, 2017.

Last year Fuocoammare by Gianfranco Rosi was awarded with Golden Bear. A baptism for the film that then met many successes until to the Oscar nomination.

This year, there will be no Italian films in competition. On the other hand there will be the world of Italian cinema represented in various sections of the Festival.

Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement to Milena Canonero

On February 16, a great recognition for the world of Italian cinema: will be awarded the Golden Bear for Lifetime Achievement at the costume designer Milena Canonero. A prize in addition to the many successes of Canonero. Costume designer from Turin has won four times the Academy Award for Best Costume Design and was nominated nine times.

The award ceremony will be accompanied by the screening of the film The Shining (1980) by Stanley Kubrick. Along with a retrospective tribute dedicated to her with ten movies

Berlinale Call me by your name

On February 13 will be screened Call Me by Your Name, the new film by Luca Guadagnino (director of I Am Love and A Bigger Splash).

The film was premiered on January 22 at the Sundance Film Festival 2017. In Berlin it will be included in the Panorama section.

Call Me by Your Name is a film adaptation of the novel having the same title by André Aciman.

The screenplay is written by the same Guadagnino with James Ivory collaboration. The film tells the love story between the young Elio and the American Oliver, played by Armie Hammer and Timothée Chalamet.

It is now in its twentieth edition Shooting Stars, the platform for young European actors, organized by European Film Promotion. For this showcase have passed important players: among others Daniel Craig, Rachel Weisz, Ludvine Saigner, Carey Mulligan, Riccardo Scamarcio, Alba Rohrwacher.

This year among the awarded also our Alessandro Borghi, actor in Do not be evil, Suburra, The biggest dream and performer of Tenco in the recent movie Dalida.

Laura Bispuri in the Berlinale Co-Production Market

From 12 to 15 February will be the fourteenth edition of the Berlinale Co-Production Market.

They were selected 36 film projects. The producers and directors of these projects will meet with 550 between co-producers, financiers and international TV channels. Among the directors of the selected projects is included Italian Laura Bispuri with Daughter of Mine. Laura Bispuri is not new at the Berlin Festival. Her film The Virgin Sworn was presented in competition at the Berlinale two years ago.

Young Italian talents in the Berlinale Talents

From 11 to 16 February, at the movie theater Hebbel am Ufer HAU, it will host the fifteenth edition of the Berlinale Talents. Attended by 250 young acting talent, coming from 71 different nations. They will have the opportunity to exchange their professionalism, to meet experts and to participate in meetings and conferences. The young Italian talents invited are Cristina Picchi, Piernicola Muro, Michele Vannucci, Davide Favargiotti, Lorenzo Cioffi and Carlo Salsa.
