Edhel, eleven years old, lives alone with her mother following the disappearance of her father. Affected by a malformation, Edhel has ears "pointy", and is bullied by the classmates. Even at home the situation is not the best. Edhel, in fact, has a stormy relationship with his mother. In fact, it is the mother who desires for her daughter a life similar to that of the girls of her age. He insists that Edhel undertakes a surgical operation to resolve his anomaly.

The only moments of joy, for the child, are those with Charon, his horse, the only faithful friend that remained, after the death of his father. Just when Edhel seems convinced that the operation is the best thing for her, make friends with the school janitor, Silvano. He is convinced that Edhel's pointed ears are the irrefutable proof that the girl belongs to the magical world of the Elves. This gives Edhel greater self-confidence, allowing her to overcome her fears and challenge the unknown.

Between reality and fantasy

Suspended between reality and fantasy, moving in telling the discomfort and the struggle of a girl to affirm herself. "Edhel" is the debut film by Marco Renda, a young Neapolitan director who won the second place at the 47th edition of the Giffoni Film Festival.

Important topics

The themes of mourning, physical diversity, loneliness and rejection are tackled with great sensitivity and delicacy in the film. A film made in just 18 days of filming, saw the participation of an excellent cast.

Among these, the names of Roberta Mattei (mother of Edhel), Mariano Rigillo, Fioretta Mari, as well as Pietro De Silva, Gianluca Gobbi and Lidia Vitale stand out.
