Farewell to Manlio Rocchetti, the Oscar-winning make-up artist
He died Monday night in Florida, at age 73, Manlio Rocchetti.
A great makeup artist arrived at the highest international levels, which has created legendary wigs for film and TV.
He has won numerous awards in his career.
In 1989 he won an Emmy Award. Awarded for the best makeup for the TV series Lonesome Dove starring Robert Duvall and Tommy Lee Jones.
In 1990 then even an Oscar. Along with Lynn Barber and Kevin Haney, Rocchetti had been awarded for the film Driving Miss Daisy.

The Rocchetti family has managed since 1874 a laboratory of wigs in Rome in Largo del Pozzo of the Crows. Grandpa Manlio had refined the art of making wig in Paris. Then he assumed the official role of parruccaio and head of the makeup of the Royal Opera House in Rome.
Even now, after some vicissitudes, the laboratory, in the current headquarters of Via Gregorio VII, is run by the family. Last fall Manlio Rocchetti had participated in The Italian Journey one of the meetings of MIA, the international audiovisual market, at the Planetarium of Rome.
