The father of Italy is an interesting and challenging film, definitely a positive acknowledgment for the director Fabio Mollo.

The director is in his second feature film. In 2013 it was released his first feature film The South is nothing, selected for 64.mo Festival in Berlin, the 38.mo Toronto International Film Festival and the eighth International Film Festival in Rome, winning the prize Taodue "Camera d'oro".

Says the director of his new film "Being a parent is part of human nature. And not to be? What it is natural and what is unnatural? With Father of Italy I try to reflect on one of the central issues of our society, and especially of my generation: the future. A future that is mainly represented by the time you stop being children and you begin to become parents.

Being a parent is part of human nature: the continuation of the species, the covenant of love, the desire to love. And not to be? So what is natural and what is unnatural? A woman who does not want children? A homosexual who wants to be a father? Is there a different nature for heterosexuals and homosexuals? What is the maternal instinct and there is a paternal instinct?

The film's characters travel from one extreme to the other, not only in Italy, but also in themselves, to explore yourself and understand what it means to be adult, become parents and build a future. "

Synopsis

Paul is 30 years old and leads a solitary life, almost as if to hide from the world. His past is marked by a pain that can not be overcome. One night, by chance, he meets Mia, an irrepressible and problematic same age in the sixth month of pregnancy, who puts his life upside down. Pushed by the desire to drive her home, Paul begins a journey that will both lead to cross Italy and to discover their irrepressible desire to live.

Cast

The film's characters are played by two of the most successful Italian actors right now: Luca Marinelli and Isabella Ragonese.

Luca Marinelli is certainly one of the best, popular and committed players in the new italian cinema. In these days he is the protagonist in two upcoming films. In addition to The father of Italy, on March 23 it will released Slam - all for a girl by Andrea Molaioli. And also just recently they started in Genoa the shooting of Free Prince. The biopic on Fabrizio De Andrè in which the actor will play the great songwriter.
