Cinetel data for the 2016 box-office takings of Italian films were released.

Overall, the values are up from the previous year. Receipts rose from 130 million to 180, an increase of 38%. Viewers from 21 million to 28, an increase of 33%.

A rising trend driven heavily by the film Quo Vado? by Gennaro Nunziante with Checco Zalone. Alone it collects 65 million (36% of the total) and records 9.3 million viewers (a third of the total).

Despite some signs of crisis that emerged in recent days for the public and for box-office takings, the comedy remains the protagonist: among the first thirty films there are as many as 22 comedies.

In second place was Perfect Strangers (more than 17 million takings and 2.7 million viewers)

The film, directed by Paolo Genovese with Giuseppe Battiston, Anna Foglietta, Kasia Smutniak, Marco Giallini, Edoardo Leo, Alba Rohrwacher and Valerio Mastandrea, awarded with the David di Donatello, the Silver Ribbon, the Golden Globe and the Ciak gold.
