Trieste film festival 2018 celebrates the 50th anniversary of '68 with the manifesto and a retrospective.

The next edition of the Trieste Film Festival 2018, scheduled for January 19th to 28th, celebrates the 50th anniversary of the '68 movement with a theme poster.

Vieni a vivere a Napoli

News of the new edition

manifesto 29. TRIESTE FILM FESTIVAL

The tribute begins with the official poster that reinvents in a "beat" key a scene photograph taken in 1962 by Mario Magajna on the Senilità set.

But the heart of the celebrations "sessantottine" will be REBELS 68. EAST 'N' WEST REVOLUTION, a retrospective that, faithful to the spirit of the TsFF, will be done in two, investigating that crucial year of the second half of the twentieth century from a double point of view.

That of the west, with authors such as Godard, Roeg and Bertolucci, and that of the East, with names like Pintilie, Dezső, Němec and Žilnik.

Without forgetting titles and personalities that, from Bellocchio to Makavejev to Garrel, have anticipated 68, or that of the 68 have nourished themselves, prolonging their spirit in the seasons to come.

An important goal in an image

The image wants to tell a summary of change and social commitment that we will find in the "film revolution".

To be relived in a movie theater, which this year besides the Teatro Miela will also interest the Teatro Politeama Rossetti.

The choice of this photo derives from the fact that, transmitted carefree and at the same time united in a single shot the city of Trieste and the world of cinema.

Opening on January 19th

Two, this year, the openings: the first, Friday 19 January, at the Teatro Miela, with Sympathy for the Devil by Jean-Luc Godard. The inaugural event of the retrospective "Rebels 68. East'n'West Revolution". A film that is the symbol of an entire season, which "bombs" the traditional narrative through ten sequential planes: half on the Rolling Stones that record the title song, half on the revolution that does not take off. Between Panther black literalist, written on the walls, a Nazi bookseller who is beating two "reds" and Eve Democracy interviewed on the role of intellectuals and then hunted.

Opening January 22nd

The second opening, which will mark the debut of Rossetti as the main venue of the Festival on Monday 22nd January, will be entrusted to Djam, the new film by Tony Gatlif. A work that, as always in the cinema of the author of Gadjo Dilo, Transilvania and Vengo, mixes languages, nationalities and rhythms, in a journey made of music, meetings, sharing and hope. All this, through the story of a young woman with a free spirit. This is a work that tells the Europe of multiculturalism and migration.

The closing marks the return to the Trieste Film Festival of Elisabetta Sgarbi, filmmaker, writer, publisher, who in "The nearer elsewhere" accompanies the viewer on a journey to the borders of the elsewhere that is closer to us. A land, a people, a culture, made to be crossed and canceled millions of times by the transmigrations of people, languages, habits.
