Urban Ghosts. Travel in cinemas that there are no more: exhibition in Milan

Fantasmi urbani

It will be inaugurated tomorrow in Milan the painting exhibition Urban Ghosts. Travel in cinemas that there are no more by Severino Salvemini.

An exhibition, important and original, of watercolors depicting fifty disappeared cinemas mostly Italians, but not only.

The author is Severino Salvemini, a figure who is also very special.

Fantasmi urbani

Prestigious Economist, Professor at Bocconi University in Milan, has taught at prestigious Italian and international universities, has held important positions in companies and public and private institutions, is a leading expert in the management of cultural institutions and sectors of economy creative.

Here he performs as a painter of watercolors to carry on a really significant cultural initiative: to bring to the fore places that were part of the cultural identity of our territories.

His interest in the abandoned movie theaters broke out almost by accident in Caorso, where his attention was hit by Cine Fox built in the late 40's by architect Pietro Berzolla. From there a search, on the field or by period photographs, which allowed to carry out this catalog of 52 works.

Fantasmi urbani

A catalog that ranges from North to South Italy. From Gorizia in Friuli to Caorle and Arcole in Veneto. From Piedmont (Turin and Acqui Terme) to Milan to Cinque Terre. From Caorso and Ferrara in Emilia Romagna to Galciana in Tuscany to Rome. And the South: Galatina, Fasano, Manfredonia, Monopoli, Trani in Apulia; Palmi and Castrovillari in Calabria; Modica in Sicily.

And then a ride in the world. In Europe (Paris, Madrid, Corsica, Ireland, Scotland, Orlanda) but also in other continents, many in the US, Venezuela, Hong Kong, Eritrea, Morocco, India.

Names that evoke intense emotions, reminiscent of a time when, as Paul Mereghetti writes in the exhibition catalog, "you went to the cinema rather than you saw a movie."

The exhibition is held at the Galleria Nuages, Via del Lauro 10, Milan. Until May 13 at the times 14-19 (Saturday 10-13; 14-19).

A cultural event, but also with a strong social impact. Revenues from the sale of the works will been destinated to CAF Association, which deals with support to children and young victims of abuse and neglect.
