WINNERS OF THE XVI EDITION OF THE RIFF AWARDS

WINNERS OF THE XVI EDITION OF THE RIFF AWARDS 2017

RIFF WINNERS, here are the winners of the sixteenth edition of the RIFF - Rome Independent Film Festival which took place at the Casa del Cinema in Rome from 28 November to 3 December 2017. An edition of this, with over 100 films previewed in Italy. The Capitoline Kermesse will then continue with a Focus on India from 8 to 10 December at the Casa del Cinema in collaboration with the India Film Festival.

RIFF WINNERS

The Argentine film A Winter to Remember by Cecilia Valenzuela Gioia won the Feature Films 
section.

The film was presented at the RIFF as part of the LGBTQ focus or films related to gender 
identity.

For the feature film section, the jury also awarded a Special Mention, to I Am Truly to 
Elene Naveriani's Drop of Sun on Earth.

RIFF WINNERS: Documentary section

For the Italian documentary section, Beo di di Stefano Viali and Francesca Pirani wins.

A special mention went to the documentary Fuoricampo of the collective Melkanaa.

On the international documentary front wins Owino by Javier Marino and Yussuf Razzaque 
(Spain).

RIFF WINNERS: Italian Courts section

For the Italian short section he won the best short film Insetti by Gianluca Manzetti.

The short film that sees in the cast Alessandro Haber, Mauro Racanati and Carlo de Ruggero 
is set in a house.

Within which, to the sound of the alarm, the owner's nephew, an old crazy neighbor and the 
stable's goalkeeper find themselves stuck in a whirlwind of misunderstanding and violence.

RIFF WINNERS: International Courts section

For the international shorts section he won the French Belle à Croquer by Axel Courtière.

Oscar Mangoût is a fiery cannibal chef of love for his beautiful neighbor, the extreme 
vegetarian Miss Carrot.

But this passion seems destined to fail: she is a vegetarian, while he suffers from a total 
phobia against plants.

Things take a dramatic turn when she invites him to dinner.

RIFF WINNERS: Short films section realized by the students

For the short films section made by the students, YenJu Wu's short film Life Ink has 
distinguished itself for being a fresh and harmonious film with an original story.

RIFF WINNERS: Animation Courts section

Finally, for the short animation section, he won the Late Season of the Austrian Daniela L
eitner. At the center of the short, an elderly couple seems to have lost the intimate 
affection for each other.

One day, however, while the two are sleeping on the beach, something unexpected happens 
that will rekindle a cascade of romantic emotions believed long lost.

RIFF WINNERS: Feature Screenplays section

For the feature-length screenplay section, Mirta Morrone's Like A Vergin wins.

RIFF WINNERS: Samson Short Film section

For the short film Sansone written by Chiara Centioni and Lady Bite for the Cinematographic 
Subjects section, written by Carlo Fiorini.
