Valentina, apparently an epileptic girl, has been sent to a psychiatric clinic. Here she finds Arturo, a young psychiatrist, who is able to establish with Valentina an intense relationship and finally discover the true nature of her disease. The film won the David di Donatello for Best Picture, Best Screenplay while Sergio Castellitto is awarded for Best Actor. In addition, the film won the Silver Ribbon for Best Screenplay, Best Original Story and Best Producer. Sergio Castellitto also won the Italian Golden Globe for Best Actor while, at the Cannes Film Festival, the film won the jury award.
