Film version of the play by Umberto Marino. Domenico is a shy stationmaster who spends his days at his post, fulfilling his duties with dedication and tranquility. One night, however, his life is turned upside down by the encounter with Flavia, a mysterious and beautiful woman who is running away from her partner, violent and drunk. Both Sergio Rubini and Margherita Buy won a David di Donatello and a Silver Ribbon for Best New Director and Best Actress. Rubini also won the italian Golden Globe for Best First Feature and the FIPRESCI Prize at teh Venice Film Festival.
