23 years ago died Federico Fellini

October 31, 1993 died Federico Fellini, one of the greatest, visionaries and innovators Italian and international filmmakers of all time.

He is the Italian director who has won the most Oscar awards: four for the Best Foreign Language Film and one honorary for Lifetime Achievement.

We want to remember him today with his award-winning films with the Oscar.

The road: 1957 Oscar Award

Academy President George Seaton presents the Oscar for Foreign Language Film to Italy for La Strada at the 29th Academy Awards. Accepted by Dino De Laurentiis.

The road is a drama with two exceptional protagonists: Anthony Quinn, who plays Zampano and Giulietta Masina, who plays Gelsomina.

Also co-starring Richard Basehart, Aldo Silvani, Lidia Venturini, Marcella Rovere.

The film was shot between Lazio and Abruzzo, especially in Bagnoregio (VT), Civita di Bagnoregio (VT), Fiumicino (RM), Ovindoli (AQ), Rocca di Mezzo (AQ), Roma (RM).

The Nights of Cabiria: Oscar Award 1958

Fred Astaire and Dana Wynter present the ceremony of the Oscar, which is withdrawn from starring Giulietta Masina.

It is the story of Cabiria. A confused prostitute who wanders the streets of Rome looking for true love but finding only pain.

The award ceremony was presented by two icons of Italian cinema: Sophia Loren and Marcello Mastroianni.

It will be the last international limelight by Federico Fellini, that in a few months will die.
