It is an unpublished and spiritual journey, among the places of the soul of Van Gogh, told through the eyes of a woman in love with the work and the figure of this immense genius.

Film event directed by Giovanni Piscaglia with scientific advice and participation of Marco Goldin.

Produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital, which will be in cinemas on 9, 10 and 11 April to retrace the spiritual union of two people, Helene Kröller-Müller, wife of a shipping magnate, and Vincent himself.

Souls that never met in life, while sharing the same tension towards the absolute, the same search for a pure religious and artistic dimension, without compromise.

Between the wheat and the sky

The story of this passion which resulted in an impressive collection of art is also told by the exhibition's main character, Van Gogh.

Between the wheat and the sky, at the Basilica Palladiana in Vicenza until 8 April 2018, which contains 40 paintings and 85 drawings from the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo, Holland.

Museum where Helene's legacy is kept today.

An exhibition that, thanks to the art critic Marco Goldin, a narrative presence also in the film, as well as telling us the art and genius of Van Gogh, allows us to understand the importance of drawing and long preparatory studies in his artistic practice .

The docufilm is produced by 3D Produzioni and Nexo Digital.

A story, a woman, an artist ... a journey

A private collector of works by the Dutch painter, who, at the beginning of the twentieth century, enchanted by a trip between Milan, Rome and Florence, and following the example of the patronage of the Medici, came to buy almost 300 works by the master of Zundert, including paintings and drawings.

This story constituted a cinematographic opportunity, prompting the authors to take an interest in this woman.

The film tries to reconstruct this relationship between the two in various ways.

First of all it goes through the places, first of all the Kröller-Müller Museum in Otterlo in the Netherlands, where the pieces on display in Vicenza come from.

It is an unusual museum, which resides in the middle of an enormous nature reserve inhabited by deer and wild boar, the ancient hunting reserve of Helene's husband.

And then there are the places to frame and at the same time as a subject on this journey in the soul of the artist. In the docufilm there are the places of Helene and those of Vincent.

The idea of becoming a promoter of the mature arts in Helene was born after a series of trips to Italy, specifically in Milan, Florence and Rome.

In his letters he talks about the enchantment of visiting these places, from the Pinacoteca di Brera to the Uffizi, from Palazzo Vecchio to Santa Croce.

So the director decided to represent these "visions" to show them in the film through the letters that the woman wrote, looking at some famous pieces of Italian art through her eyes.

At one point the shots come from the Basilica Palladiana, where the exhibition is set up, to reach other places, from the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels to Montmartre.
