The film revisits the tragedy of Sophocles Antigone.

In the cast several Sicilian actors, including Tony Sperandeo and Giuditta Perriera.

In fact, in the next days the troupe will move to Belmonte Mezzagno, Carini, Capaci, Terrasini and Palermo.

In the latter Municipality, on the 14th and 15th of December, casting took place.

In 450 they presented themselves to get a part and about a hundred candidates will participate in the film as actors or extras.

Filming will highlight some of the most beautiful and ancient Balestratesi houses and some glimpses of the territory thus contributing to the promotion of the territory.

Synopsis

For five years Gaetano, a young taciturn of French origin, has returned to his homeland to take care of the family bakery because of his father's health problems.

He takes care of him in daily life and is not helped in the least by his elder brother, a small local delinquent, known for his improper behavior.

When the latter dies causing the death of the parish priest of the village, Gaetano must take care of his burial.

But Enza, mayor and local authority who has close links with the underworld, refuses him the right to let him rest in the family tomb.

A conflict troubled by the crazy love that Anna, Enza's daughter, tries for Gaetano. But the French (as the small community of the Sicilian country has nicknamed him) is stubborn as a donkey.

He is determined to fulfill his family duties at any cost for his father's honor, endangering himself and his family.
