Last night at the Alpine Space SAT of Trento, it was presented the documentary By motorbike on the Dolomites (1926).

The direction and screenplay are by Lothar Rubelt; photography by Franz Sochor. Protagonists Lothar Rubelt, Anton Popschil, Frotz Stuhler, Franz Sochor. The music by Tiziano Popoli.

The film, produced by Mondial-Film in Vienna, was distributed by SüdFilm SpA in Berlin.

The initiative, promoted by the Trento Film Festival, part of the "Alpine Laboratory of the Dolomites Unesco Goods".

The documentary was presented in its restored version.

The restoration and digitization of the Italian edition of the documentary are been cured from Bolzano Audiovisual Centre (CAB) - Department of Italian Culture, in cooperation with the Filmarchiv Austria in Vienna. Curator of the restoration project was Paul Caneppele, head of the Austrian Film Archive of Film Museum in Vienna.

The documentary tells the story of a group of enthusiastic motorcyclists Vienna.

In 1926 they decide to make a film on the Dolomites.

With limited technical means, in just two weeks, the crew made the film on an extraordinary trip to the Dolomites.

By motorcycle the group of friends climbs the Tofane, reaching the refuge Cantore at 2588 meters above sea level.

Shooting of mountains and passion for engines come together in this sports documentary.

For the quality and themes By motorcycle on the Dolomites is unique in the sports film of era.

The stars of the film are the bikes, present in almost all the shots. Along the beautiful Alpine landscapes that enchant the players as spectators.
