Films in cinemas this week end

Among the films in cinemas this week end, three new proposals profoundly different by genre.

"The life as possible"

The first is "The life as possible" the new film by Ivano De Matteo, director author of "Balancing Act" and "The Dinner".

The film deals with a delicate and sadly topical subject, that of family violence against women.

Anna, along with her son Valerio, lives in Rome and has to cope with a family situation characterized by ongoing violence of her husband.

Anna manages to find the strength to escape and get away from her husband and from Rome. Anna and her son are welcomed in Turin home of Carla, a theater actress and friend of Anna by long date.

The two try to adapt to the new life full of so many difficulties and misunderstandings. Carla and Mathieu, a French restaurateur who lives in the neighborhood, will help them to find the strength to start again.

A drama, but also a film of strength and hope.

The film has a cast of all relief. Anna is played by Margherita Buy, Carla by Valeria Golino, Bruno Todeschini is Mathieu, Catherine Shulha the young prostitute Larissa; really pleasant surprise is the interpretation of the young Andrea Pittorino in the shoes of his son Valerio.

The film is produced by Rodeo Drive and Barbary Films in collaboration with Rai Cinema. The distribution is entrusted to Teodora Film.

The screenplay is by Valentina Ferlan and Ivano De Matteo, photography by Duccio Cimatti, editing by Marco Spoletini, music by Francesco Cerasi, set design by Alessandro Marrazzo  and costumes by Valentina Taviani.

The film is set between Turin and Rome.

"Prima di lunedì"

The second proposal is "Prima di lunedì", a comedy directed by Massimo Cappelli.

The director returns to feature films after "Il giorno + bello" (2006), with Violante Placido and Fabio Troiano and "Non c'è 2 senza te" (2015) with the same Troiano and Dino Abbrescia.

Carlito is a complex person, a perfectionist and is proud to be Italian. He has got old cars of all colors and a chain of supermarkets. We are in a mid-afternoon in August, in a deserted Turin. Carlito has to deliver a very attractive Easter egg ... Marco and Andrew are inseparable friends, linked by Penelope, sister of Andrew and former girlfriend of Marco. They are driving on the same road Carlito is driving on with its 500 green. Penelope is getting married. Mark - who is driving - was not invited. He is anxious to convince his friend that does not care about the wedding and Penelope. But ends up straight against Carlito's car. Now the two are indebted to Carlito. Begin the hilarious adventures.

The film stars are Vincenzo Salemme, Fabio Troiano, Andrea Di Maria, Martina Stella, Sandra Milo, Sergio Muniz.

The film is produced by Massimiliano Leone, Valentina Di Giuseppe and distributed by Koch Media.

Story and screenplay are by Massimo Cappelli, Fabio Troiano, Beppe De Console; photography by Marcello Montarsi, mounting Luciana Pandolfelli, music by Fernando Alba, set design by Walter Caprara, costumes by Laura Costantini.

The film was shot mainly in Piedmont between Turin and the province of Cuneo (Carrù, Mondovi, Bastia Mondovi, Fossano, Alba, Cavallermaggiore), but also in Rome and Naples.

"Spira Mirabilis"

The third proposal is the documentary film "Spira Mirabilis" by Massimo D'Anolfi and Martina Parenti.

The film was presented in competition at Venice last September 3. "Spira Mirabilis" was reported as one of the most courageous and innovative films of the last Venice Film Festival.

The documentary was shot in various locations around the world.

It is based on four stories intertwined with each other which correspond to the four elements of nature according to the Aristotelian tradition.

The earth is represented by the statues of the Cathedral of Milan with restorers constantly engaged in their regeneration.

Water is the environment in which Shin Kubota, a Japanese singer scientist studies the Turritopsis, a jellyfish that can regenerate itself continuously.

The air is that of a couple of craftsmen / Swiss musicians inventors of metal instruments/sculptures.

The fire: a small Lakota community committed to the defense of its memory against a society that wants to annihilate them.

To these elements it adds the ether that takes shape in the cinema itself. The voice of Marina Vlady and the pages of "The immortal" by Borges accompany us on the journey.

The film is a journey into the human perennial search of the immortality.

The films protagonists are: Marina Vlady, Leola One Feather, Felix Rohner, Sabina Schärer, Shin Kubota, Joe Brings Plenty, Coco Brings Plenty, Seth Brings Plenty, Brett Brings Plenty, Friederike Haslbeck, Moses Brings Plenty.

Subject, screenplay and editing are of the same Massimo D'Anolfi and Martina Parenti.

Production of Montmorency Film, in collaboration with Rai Cinema, SRF - Schweizer Radio & Fernsehen, SRG SSR idée suisse; distribution of The Wonder Pictures.
