The shooting of 1991 started from the Perugia Fontivegge railway station and in the next few days they will continue throughout the acropolis.

1991 tells the story of Richard, a young Quebec student. He says he wants to go to the University for Foreigners of Perugia to perfect his Italian, but he actually chases Marie-Ève, his university colleague, whom he is secretly in love with. During his trip to Italy, Riccardo meets Arturo, a young Croatian who trips trough Europe with backpack and guitar. The two become friends and Arturo will be the witness of Riccardo's adventures with the rediscovery of his origins.

The film is the third chapter of a Ricardo Trogi trilogy featuring strong autobiographical elements.

The other two feature films, 1981 and 1987, which tells of his adolescence in Canada, have been successful and various prizes.

1981 opened Montreal's Festival des Films du Monde and Quebec's Cinema Week in Paris in 2009. At the Jutra 2010 it received two nominations for best director and best film and the Best Actress Award for Best Actress. It has attended 22 international festivals. The 1987 film was a great success with major box office sales in Quebec in 2014 and received several nominations for the Prix Jutra 2015 including Best Director.
