Vincent Schiavelli is been an important American character actor of Italian origins.

His family was originally from Polizzi Generosa (PA), small and beautiful town in the Madonie Park. From Polizzi Generosa, moreover, were also the grandparents of Martin Scorsese who from there emigrated to America.

He has acted in over 150 films. In 1997, Vanity Fair magazine has indicated him as one of the most Important characteristics actors of American cinema. He played in several films directed by Milos Forman. Among the other One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest with Jack Nicholson and Amadeus.

Vincent Schiavelli spent the last ten years of his life right in Polizzi Generosa together to his girlfriend, the actress Katia Vitale. Ten years of intense relationship with the territory. Died there prematurely in 2005 and there was buried.

Andrea Schiavelli and the movie

Andrea Schiavelli is Vincent's son. He is a musician who lives in New York. He did not even participate in the funeral of his father ten years before.

A phone call from Katia, that invites him to travel to Sicily to deal with a question of money on a current account of his father, triggers the story. It catapults him from skyscrapers of New York to the Madonie landscapes.

Andrea, not without uncertainties and hesitations, comes back in his father's country. The trip becomes soon a search of his roots, of the story of his father and in the depths of himself.

Marco Amenta, director of The Phantom of Corleone and The Sicilian Girl, accompanies and punctuates this trip. An intimate and delicate journey. But also an opportunity to present a beautiful humanity of a deep Sicily far from traditional cliché.

A movie of quality and rich artistic sensitivity.
