Milan grows as cinema location: increased demands for film and spot shooting

MilanoThese days, data on advanced requests for film and commercials in Milan have been announced. And the confirmation of a feeling is been clean: Milan, as the years go by, is not been forgotten as a cinema location, but it is more and more appreciated.

Growing numbers

MilanoOnly in the first seven months of 2017 there were 376 requests made to make Milan a set of films, advertisements, documentaries, TV series, fiction, video clips, social spots and didactic exercises. Of these 44 come from foreign productions: Japan and Great Britain the countries with the largest number of requests. An average of 53 requests per month. A trend that, if confirmed between August and December, would bring the total number of requests to exceed the data of the previous five years. In fact, there were 327 in 2012, 387 in 2013, 359 in 2014, 478 in 2015 and 497 in 2016.

In particular, between January and July this year, 203 (of which 18 foreign production) are for photographic or video services for advertising and fashion services. A datum that already equates to the overall 2016 when there were 207 such productions. In addition, 29 feature films and short films (including 3 foreigners), 59 television series, fiction and talk shows (8 foreigners), 35 documentaries (15 foreigners), 36 between teaching exercises and video clips and 14 social videos were shot.

Preferred locations

MilanoAmong the most popular sites are Piazza Duomo, Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II and Piazza della Scala (128 requests), Castello Sforzesco, Arco della Pace and Sempione Park (89), Via Manzoni, Via Montenapoleone, Via della Spiga and corso Matteotti (39), Giardini Montanelli, Corso Venezia, Piazza Cavour (33) and Brera (30).

The numbers therefore speak of an interest that continues to increase towards the city, its squares, its streets, its parks. This interest is certainly favoured by the simplification of the procedures launched in 2011, but also from the growing reputation of Milan in Italy and in the world, and the capacity the city has to accommodate and make 'the job' of those who choose it as 'simple'.

The satisfaction of the operators

MilanoA perception confirmed by Customer satisfaction numbers (referring to 2016). It is noted that the percentage of those who have more than one request (60%, 24% made 2-3 requests and 36% more than 3 requests) is greater than the one who has one service at a time (40 %). Among all users, the percentage of satisfaction is close to 100%: in fact, 79.3% of those who shot or photograph in Milan feel "very satisfied" and 20.4% say "satisfied".
