Palmanova, the star city, set of the film by Polish director Krysztof Zanussi. Turn some scenes on the ramparts and in the Filzi Barracks. The new feature will be titled "Ether".

Location & Production

It will be a co-production between Poland, Ukraine, Hungary, Lithuania and Italy. The new film by the great Polish director Krysztof Zanussi will be called Ether and some of his scenes have been shot in Palmanova, inside the Filzi Napoleonic barracks and on the Bastion of Porta Aquileia.

Synopsis

With the trenches of the First World War in the background. The film tells the story of a military doctor of the Habsburg imperial army who conducts experiments to get to control people. Ether is the updated version of Goethe's Faust myth at the beginning of the 20th century.

Palmanova ... the fortress

Palmanova will be quoted in the credits of the film as the city hosting the shoot, even in the versions distributed by the other co-producers and in all the respective countries. The production of the film is curated by Janusz Wachala, Krzysztof Zanussi, Paolo Maria Spina, Giuseppe Lepore and Studio Filmowe TOR. Then, Interfilm Production Studio, Studio Uljana Kim, Laokoon Film Group, Revolver, Bielle Re, with the support of the Polish Film Institute, Minister of Culture and National Heritage. Finally, the Podkarpackie Film Commission, the Ukrainian State Film Agency, the Hungarian National Film Fund and the Lithuanian Film Center.
