The mask and smile. The artistic adventure of Mario Carotenuto. Tribute to the actor a hundred years after his birth

This year is the centenary of the birth of Mario Carotenuto (1916-2016). Daughter Claretta, actress and theater director, remembers him with a documentary film entitled The mask and the smile: the artistic adventure of Mario Carotenuto. Written and directed by Claretta Carotenuto.

The film was produced by the Technical School of Performing Arts.

It was sponsored by the City of Rome. He received the cultural interest by the MiBACT and collaboration of Rai Teche, Istituto Luce and Titanus.

The work makes use of rare archive songs, film clips spanning six decades of career. Filming original corners of the City of Rome particularly dear to Mario Carotenuto. Testimonies of critics and celebrities in the entertainment and culture which they shared with him the set and stage over the years. The story is accompanied by archive music.

Tomorrow December 7, the film will be shown for the first time at the Casa del Cinema in Rome at 20:00
