Presented yesterday in preview at the Auditorium Parco della Musica, will be in cinemas with an event release on May 22, 23 and 24 We were, the new film by Leonardo Tiberi distributed by Luce Cinecittà.

Tiberi, after the success of Mud and Glory, came back, one hundred years after the events that changed the balance of the world, to tell stories about places and faces of the First World War. This time, the story points to the character and the vicissitudes of volunteers, men and women, and who brought a profound contribution to the conflict and to the story of what the future nation will be.

The experimental plot of the beautiful repertoire of images from the archive of the Luce Institute, exceptionally colored, and fiction produce a definitely original and compelling result. They return us all the epic of a great war movie, peace, and feelings.

Synopsis

Italy, between the end of the Great War in 1918 until 1933. 15 years in the country's and three boys life. William and Luciano, united and divided by a war they chose to participate as volunteers, and by the love for Agnese, the very bright light of their lives, even her volunteer in the body of the most beloved Red Cross nurses.

A plot of personal destinies in a great story, joined by the key character and narrator of the story: Fiorello La Guardia. Son of Italian emigrants, who came from America together with a hundred fellow countrymen to fight with the mythical Caproni aircraft.

Fiorello's eyes will take us out of the war camps in Veneto in 1918 until to a window of a New York study in 1933. The city of which La Guardia will become an unforgettable mayor.

History seen with the eyes of emotion. To remind us where we come from, and that story, like the images that accompany it, is still extraordinarily present, colorful and alive.

A gem of the film is the tribute of Renzo Arbore and the Motus Mandolin Quartet performing the famous "Piave legend".

Cast

The film relies on a cast of young talents of the big and small screen, Alessandro Tersigni, Davide Giordano and Beatrice Arnera, on the mature performance of the key character of the film, Fiorello La Guardia, played by Yari Gugliucci, alongside the presence of actors such as Roberto Citran, Emanuela Grimalda and Eliana Miglio.

Location

We were is set in Veneto during the last months of the Great War. The main location of the story is the airport F.Baracca in Nervesa della Battaglia (TV). Next to the track was rebuilt an authentic field hospital of the time, where the feverish daily life of wounded, physicians and Red Cross nurses is set.
