A pair of elderly luxury actors , Carlo Delle Piane and Lando Buzzanca (81 and 82 years), to play a sensitive tale, of love and absolute dedication, directed by Cesare Furesi, first-time director but a popular writer and screenwriter.

A love story between two old men and a frail relationship with the daughter of one of them. A rainbow family ahead of one's time that will be settling frictions and misunderstandings before it's too late. A surprise ending, tough, sobering and discuss. Who will save the roses? is a tribute to the highest feeling, to love, regardless of genres, of roles and age.

Synopsis

Giulio Santelia (Carlo Delle Piane) is an elderly gentleman. He is a lawyer, but in fact his true profession was the game of poker, with which he is enriched. He loves Claudio (Lando Buzzanca) and to this story he is dedicated himself totally.

Gulio also has a daughter, Valeria. Orphaned early, she does not live for a long time more with his father. With him she has a very conflicted relationship; in return she feeds adoration for Claudio. Valeria in turn also has a son, Marco, who she grew up alone.

Marco loves his grandparents and has inherited by Giulio the poker passion.

When Claudio becomes seriously ill, Giulio takes every morning at her bedside a rose as a token of their love.

Giulio stop playing poker, but before long the money ends up. So he is forced to dismiss the gardener, the cook and even to sell the furniture. He tries to keep everything secret to Claudio.

Giulio is ready to do anything for Claudio, also return to play in order to recover the money needed to treat him.

Location

The movie was almost entirely shot in Alghero, in the historic town centre, the Bastioni, the Porto and Capo Caccia. And then Torre Sulis, Villa Maria Pia, Hotel Carlos V, Bonaria Farm, Villa Mosca and Fattoria dei Piani.

Cast

Besides Carlo Delle Piane and Lando Buzzanca, Caterina Murino and Antonio Careddu, who play the daughter and the nephew of Julius. Special appearance by Philippe Leroy. And then Guenda Goria, Eleonora Vallone, Massimiliano Buzzanca, Ignazio Chessa, Maurizio Pulina, Antonio Luvinetti, Pier Luigi Alvau, Matteo Gazzolo and Massimo Palmieri.
