A televised adaptation of Forster's novel, it tells the story of a young Englishwoman in 1912 who visits Italy with her cousin. While there, they meet a host of interesting characters, and she falls in love with one of them, but the cousin whisks her charge away. It is only when they return to England that they meet again; by this time, however, is engaged to another man.
