He died Enrico Medioli, the screenwriter of Visconti and Leone
He died recently in Orvieto, where he lived for about thirty years, the screenwriter Enrico Medioli. He was 92 years old; was born in Parma on March 17, 1925.
Medioli is been certainly one of the greatest screenwriters in Italian cinema. He worked with the greatest directors. He has signed seven films by Luchino Visconti and has worked, among others, with Valerio Zurlini, Sergio Leone, Mauro Bolognini, Alberto Lattuada, Vittorio Caprioli and Liliana Cavani.
In 1961 he won the Silver Ribbon for the screenplay of Rocco and his brothers by Luchino Visconti. In 1969 he came one step from Oscar, getting the nomination with a film by the same director, The Damned. He has scripted well-known television productions such as La Certosa di Parma (1982), The Promised Spouses (1989) and Wuthering Heights (2004).
To Enrico Medioli is dedicated, and he himself is the protagonist, the documentary film Portrait of a screenwriter in an interior of Rocco Talucci. The film, produced thanks to the support of the Carla Fendi Foundation, was presented at the Spoleto Festival on July 6, 2013.
In the film, Medioli tells about his life and his screenplay. Through his clever and ironic memories, a direct portrait of those years has emerged that represented a great page in the history of Italian cinema and culture.
