Dalida

Released today in 550 French cinemas the movie Dalida by Liza Azuelos.

A highly anticipated film.

For the attention that was rekindled around the figure of the French singer, born in Egypt to Italian parents (her real name is Iolanda Cristina Gigliotti): some have even spoken of a Dalida-mania.

Because it falls in a particular year. In these weeks they occur fifty years after the tragic death of Luigi Tenco. One of her loves who committed suicide in Sanremo during the Festival on January 27, 1967. In a few months will resort thirty years after the death of the singer committed suicide in Paris on May 3, 1987. And from here to May 3, several events are planned to commemorate the big and troubled artist.

In Italy, the film should be released in February. It is not excluded that happen right next to the Sanremo Festival. And that there is talk of it with a few guests (the protagonist?) just during the festival.

The film tells the story of the life of Dalida. Marked by professional successes: triumphs around the world, 120 million records sold, 20 others after his death. But together marked by tragedy in his affective and personal dimension, underpinned by suicides and painful losses.

The film, a Franco-Italian-Belgian international production, was produced by Bethsabee Mucho S.A.R.L. and the Wildside srl

Dalida is played by Sveva Alviti, 31 years and a past as a model. In France she is already a superstar and won the covers of Paris Match and Elle France.

Location

The film was shot in France, in Paris and the Cote d'Azur, and in Morocco.

A particularly significant location, however, was that of Sanremo (IM).

Sanremo occupies a very important part of the film, for about twenty minutes. Many people involved in the production: over 170 the extras to shoot scenes in the program in the city.

But the importance of course goes beyond the quantitative data. Director Lisa Azuelos, among other daughter of the famous singer Marie Laforet emphasizes it : "Could not have been otherwise. I am very happy to be here in Sanremo to shoot these scenes that are actually happened in real life. We thought to shoot elsewhere for production reasons. But for me it was impossible to think of going to a different place from Ariston or Sanremo. Where everything we tell has happened. "

Dalida

In the Ariston theater was rebuilt the stage where it was shot the performance by Dalida and Luigi Tenco singing Hello Love.

Other outdoor locations were the southern pier of the Old Port and the historic Royal Hotel, that in the film becames the Savoy Hotel, where he was found Tenco.
