Old Bridge

Di padre in figlia

It is with the image of Brenta bridge that opens the Tv movie "From father to daughter". The first Brenta bridge in Bassano dates back to 1209, built for commercial, social and military reasons. It was swept away several times by the violent floods of the river and wars and always rebuilt. It has the current forms thanks to the great architect Andrea Palladio who designed it in 1569. A flood of Brenta swept it off in 1750, the year when the bridge was rebuilt thanks to the intervention of Bartolomeo Ferracina. During the Second World War it was bombed by the allies to harm the traffics of the Germans. Rebuilt at the end of the conflict thanks to the will and work of the Alpines and inaugurated in 1948. Beautiful views of the mountains and Valbrenta.
