The restored film

While it's announced for the coming months the remake of this cult horror from the director Luca Guadagnino, was presented recently at the Lucca Comics & Games the trailer of restored 4K version of Suspiria by Dario Argento.

Suspiria (1977) is one of the great successes of the master of horror Dario Argento.

The film was restored ahead of the 40th anniversary of the film which falls on February 1, 2017. For the occasion, the restored film will be in cinemas for only three days, the 30 to 31 January and 1 February 2017.

The restoration was sponsored by Videa, the production company and film distribution that has the film in its vast library.

It was decided to restore the film in 4K, starting from the negative, from the original film. In this way, with this operation it was possible to preserve the original quality of the film.

The restoration from a technical point of view has been taken care of by the German laboratory TLEFilmsFilm Restoration & Preservation Services. The 35 mm, damaged in various parts was carefully corrected digitally.

Dario Argento seems enthusiastic about this "I can not wait to see him in the cinema, ........., with young people who will look at it for the first time. The original film

Suspiria

An American girl Suzy Bannon, played by Jessica Harper, just moved into a German dance school realizes that in the school take place strange unexplained deaths. She will find that in this building there is an ancient curse.

The film is the first instalment of the trilogy of the Three Mothers, and had two sequels: Inferno (1980) and The Third Mother (2007).

Protagonists, in addition to Harper, Stefania Casini, Flavio Bucci, Miguel Bosè, Barbara Magnolfi, Alida Valli and Susanna Javicoli.

Story and screenplay are by Dario Argento and Daria Nicolodi.

The photo is by Luciano Tovoli, mounting by Franco Fraticelli, special effects by Germano Natali.

The music by Claudio Simonetti of Goblin in collaboration with the same Dario Argento.

The film was shot in various German locations such as the Black Forest, Monaco of Bavaria and Freiburg.

Some minor scenes, including the incursion into the academy dance attics, were shot in Santa Maria di Galeria, a suburb of Rome.

The film was a commercial success. He grossed 1.430.000.000 liras finishing in 11th place of the proceeds of the film season 1976-77.

Despite these impressive results it did not achieve the commercial results of the previous film Deep Red. Contrary to what happened abroad, particularly France, Germany, Japan, United States and United Kingdom. Here the film was a huge success and Dario Argento is internationally known especially for this film.
