La leggenda del pianista sull'oceano The film is inspired by Novecento, a monologue by Alessandro Baricco. A baby boy, discovered in 1900 on an ocean liner and named Novecento, grows into a musical prodigy, never setting foot on land. The movie won the Golden Globe for Best Original Score and the David di Donatello for Best director, Best cinematography, Best production design, Best costume design and Best score while Giuseppe Tornatore won the Scholars Jury David. The film also won the italian Golden Globe for Best Screenplay and the silver ribbon for Best director, Best production, Best screenplay, Best production design, Best costume design while Ennio Morricone was awarded with the Special Silver Ribbon.
